Teaching Philosophy

My goal is simple: help you find your own voice, and keep you playing for life.

I believe technique, artistry, and personal growth all develop together — not one before the other. My goal isn't just to train skilled performers, but musicians who can think for themselves. Technique comes first, but it's never the end goal. I work with students on efficient, healthy habits — tone, physical awareness, problem-solving — because strong technique is what makes real expression possible. Chamber music is a big part of how I teach. Playing with others sharpens listening skills and gives students a deeper understanding of the music itself. I also make sure students get real-world experience — performances and outreach, not just practice room time. Every student should feel both supported and challenged, wherever they're starting from.

Let's get started
Who I teach:

Beginners

New to the violin or viola? Lessons start with the fundamentals — how to hold the instrument, how to produce a good sound, how to practice on your own. If you're as young as 5, you're welcome here, and if you're older, it's never too late to start. Beginners can be any age.

K-12

If you're just starting out or building your foundation, we'll work on bow control, tone, reading music, and habits that hold up over time. If you're more advanced, we'll move toward musical fluency and artistic expression — including preparation for auditions and competitions.

Adults

Coming back after time away? Or picking up the violin or viola for the first time? You're welcome at any level. Lessons meet you where you are, whether that means relearning old habits or building new ones from scratch.

Chamber Music & Group Lessons

Playing with others is where technique becomes music. You'll sharpen your listening skills, build ensemble awareness, and get a deeper understanding of the music you're playing — the kind of growth solo practice alone can't give you.
